Your comments about this record:

one of my all-time-favorites !!! especially the version of "after the love has gone" ...

Airplay is regarded as one of the cornerstones of the genre. And it’s true. Jay Graydon and Tommy Funderburk deliever big time: The fantastic high-pitched vocals, superb guitarwork and Fosters’s keyboards create the sound we all love. Even under the microscope you won’t find a weak song. For me “Stranded”, “Bix” and “Sweet Body” are the highlights of the album. Not to mention the much covered “After The Love Has Gone” which has become a real classic.

AIRPLAY is without question a classic! It's so good it takes your breath away!!! I only wish they made music this excellent now days instead of all this 90's crap that sounds the same note after note. If you don't like Airplay you don't know what good music is!

"Airplay". A legendary record with Jay Graydon, David Foster & Tommy Funderburk. Lot of people think this is the best Westcoast record thru all time, and it's has been a classic. Co-operated musicians is, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Lukather, David Hungate + many more. Songs as "Cryin´ all night" and "After the love has gone" does this record to one of the best among the Westcoast music. 10/10 / Bengt

This one is great, one of the best record ever. Graydon, Foster, Funderburk, Champlin, Porcaros, Luke. WONDERFUL!!

Tina Turner said it best: Simply the best!

What is there to be said that hasn´t already been said?? All my fellow reviewers have stated it already.Soo....Let me put it in a Kenny Loggins phrase..... THIS IS IT !!!

This album never fails to put a smile on my face. The ultimate in musicianship, songwriting and production from a golden era of LA music.

i love this album.i have.... wonderful

Airplay –Airplay 1980 David Foster and Jay Graydon’s masterpiece. This album has been been called the best westocast album ever done by many people and it surely lives up to it’s name. Vocals by Tommy Funderburk, Bill Champlin and Jay Graydon. “Nothing You Can Do About It” was also performed by Manhattan Transfer. “After The Love Is Gone” Earth Wind and Fire who won a grammy for R&B song of the year for this song. Naive and charmfull lyrics with a dash of self irony and some social awarness (On the track “BIX”) and great melodical strenght. Complex rythm arrangements and advanced changes of beats. Allthough Jay Graydon has stated on his website that he nowadays thinks that the record is somewhat overproduced. Airplay recorded one more song on the “S:t Elmos Fire” soundtrack: “Stressed Out (Closer To The Edge”. But this hasn’t anything to do with their first record, the song is synthiesized to hell and back and features dreadful “cockney” lead vocals by Peter Becket. Instead buy “Airplay” from 1980, the true “holy grail” of westcoast music. 5/5

Every self-respecting Westcoaster should have this in their collection. It is one of the God's of WC albums.

Sometimes, when you listen to a song, it's so good you can't take it - your mind has a "slick overload". That happend to me with this album. The perpetrator? "Bix". Other "slick overloads" include Michael Jackson's "Lady In My Life" and Pages' "You Need A Hero". I think I'm starting to see a pattern.

One of the absoöutely bets records that ever have been made !! Ive still got a LP for sale that is unopened and it is a DEMO LP(Not for sale), but no it is for sale if you live in Sweden just contact me if your interested. So long Mike

The album that started the whole "West Coast" gig. The reissue has interviews with Graydon, Foster and Champlin and tells how they made it. It is interesting that Bill Champlin almost recorded "After the Love the Has Gone" before EWF sang it. A true masterpiece!

Yeh Airplay is great. It sounds like they had a lot of fun making this album and a lot of it has quite a live feel. My favorite song is probably "Stranded" but it's hard to say. My brother (who really likes this album even more than I do) always said to me that he thought 'Bix' must be the only song they wished they didnt put on it, but, when I started using the internet a lot I found that many people consider this one of the best songs on it or even their favorite song. 'Sweet body' is brilliant, 'It will be alright' so funny but again, brilliant. Oh well, all round there is no doubt about it....you have to get Airplay. Other REALLY GREAT Westcoast/Aor albums I strongly advise you to check out are "Joe Chemay Band- The Riper The Finer" (1981) - "Planet 3 - music From The planet" (1990) (buy remastered at www.jaygraydon.com) and last but not least "White Heart- Freedom" (1989) (pretty easy to get on ebay for a very cheap price)
