the production sucks..the soundmaterial is somewhat, say 50 percent below average. I´m totally hooked in all these westcoast stuff - but that´s a pretty bad example, really....it´s still a mistery how Frederic gets these "cream of westcoast instrumentalists" in studio to produce such an low-quality stuff? however, hopefully the last...."overrated"..I agreed (!!)
In my opinion this project with Frédéric Slama called AOR is overrated! A project that looks very impressing "on the paper" with all famous names that features on the record. The only interesting thing about the impressing artists on the CD's is that it makes a smile on Your face when You realise that "those artists obviosuly is STILL in the business and are recording music!" But when You HEAR the result it sounds a lot like music that goes in inside of one of my ears and out of the other ear! And so far (to this day in 2006) I feel the same for ALL of the AOR-CD's that has been released! If You're not a millionaire: Spend Your money and buy other great CD's instead with much better quality!
Here’s a reissue of the first AOR album, remastered with three bonus tracks and an instrumental version of the album opener “Never Gonna Let Her Go”. It’s Frederic Slama with one of his usual all-star line ups. The style is easy accessible, soft harmonic westcoast pop/rock with lots of melody and played by the best musicians in the genre. Slightly boring and yummy at the same time!
