This is great music especially with Karla's voice and music writing talent. I had this cd on vinyl, loved it, lost it and finally replaced it.
The best of her first two albums. Restless Nights has a few excellent moments but this one isnoticably stronger to me. And it doesn't hurt that the sound on cd of this one is much better than on restless nights either. Restless Nights sounds like it was dumped to digital with a tape recorder in need of service (it has distortion related problems all over the place..at least with the original us pressing, and I don't think there has been any newer re-issue of either of these albums in usa). Whereas the plain old us cd of the debut sounds excellent (and indeed says on the back 'digitally remastered for compact disc by Joe Gastwirt at digital magnetics'). But it is not the sound in the end.. this first album is just better in my opinion. Great musicianship. Great voice. And mostly all songs are great. Also try 'New World' (1988).. pretty much a crowning masterpiece
