This is the album that debuted singer/bassist Jason Scheff, who replaced Peter Cetera. Sonically, its technical perfection surpasses anything of its day and beyond, all thanks to wizards like Humberto Gatica. The studio musicianship is top-knotch, thanks to Steve Lukather (Toto), Michael Landau (Richard Marx), and Chicago themselves (but that goes without saying). The songwriting is superb, with with contributory cats like Bobby Caldwell, Steve Kipner, and David Foster, and with the latter's world-renowned production, every song is a hit on this one! It's too bad that only 3 were released (2 top 40). "Forever" and "One More Day" are potential classics that Warner Bros. let slip away. My only complaint pertains to the remake of "25 or 6 to 4"---why did they do this? It's good work, but nostalgia is often better left untouched. Overall, this was the record that proved Chicago's music is much bigger than any one of its members (i.e. Peter Cetera).
I got this recently. David Foster gave us a triple treat with Chicago 16-18! It's always hard to tell who was singing the lead...
