Your comments about this record:

Christopher Cross had a relatively brief but spectacular career in the early 80's, and his debut stands as his most successful CD. It yielded a classic #1 adult contemporary ballad - "Sailing" (which was later remade by 'n sync!), which is a truly beautiful song. The other big hit (#2 for 4 weeks) was "Ride Like the Wind," which is more uptempo, but still mellow. A couple of other songs also made the Top 20 - "Never Be the Same" and "Say You'll Be Mine." I originally bought the cassette when I was 12-years-old, and I replaced it on CD a few years ago. Highly recommended. If you're fan of westcoast music from any era or artist, Christopher Cross is an artist well worth discovering, or in some cases, rediscovering.

Another of my all time favorite albums. The hits that came out of this recording were Ride Like the Wind, Sailing, Never be the Same and Say You'll be Mine. It's unfortunate that radio stations only play selected songs from every album. All the songs on this one deserve airtime. I Really Don't Know Anymore, The Light is On, Spinning and Poor Shirley are masterpieces that deserved airtime. Anyway not one throwaway song on this album. A definite must-have.

Yeh cross is under-rated. His second album is excellent too with 'Think of Laura' a powerful and beautiful song about somebody who has died. I heard Think of laura was written for a friend who got hit by a stray bullet while riding as a passenger in a car but it could really be about anyone who has died. Even somebody who is still alive but is lost or emotionally not well. I think it's a really amazing song and that album has many other perfect tracks. The Debut here obviously had hits, big and small... but even the other songs are very good, not filler. I'm a big fan of Christopher Cross

Christopher Cross’ rapid slide from omnipresence into obscurity is one of the great mysteries of pop music history. A fresh face on the scene at 29, he swept away the four major Grammys at the 1980 award ceremony - an unmatched feat to this day. His self-designated “pop ‘n’ roll” immediately hit a major chord with the American public, and his self-titled debut album, propelled by three hit singles, found its way into many a record shelf across the country. Cross’ pleasant melodies, coupled with Michael Omartian’s crisp production and stellar cameos by some of SoCal’s finest singers, provided the perfect musical companion to carefree days along the California coast. Standout Tracks: Ride Like The Wind, Sailing
