Your comments about this record:

Peter Cupples is best-known for his career with the band Stylus in the 70s . Stylus succeded to combine a soul and funk sound with rich harmonies. They released 4 albums and the 4th album "Part Of It All" was released in the US as Stylus on Motown's subsidiary label Prodigal in 1978. It is said that Motown didn't want anyone in America to know that Stylus was a white band from Australia, so they released the first album with a mask on the front cover and no photo's of the band anywhere on the album. After Stylus broke up, Peter made two albums in 80's. His band fellows pushed Peter to write some different music, apart from the soul genre and thus the album "Fear Of Thunder" was born in 1981. The follow up album "Half The Effort Twice The Effect" was again a different project for Peter. The album producer Louis Shelton inteneded to produce the record towards the US market, hence the very west coast sound, beautifully crafted. This album includes many intersting covers: "Never Mind" originally performed by Maxus as "Nobdy's Business" and "Do You Still Remember Me" written by Broke Walsh originally performed by Leslie Smith. And "Let Me Crawl" should be noted because this tune was penned by Steve and Kerry Wilson a.k.a Wilson Bros.

This album is much, MUCH better than its predecessor "Fear of Thunder" which was too unfocused and noisy. This one is smooth, more relaxed, but still has that edgy point to it. The first three songs are just great!
