I first bought this album in the late 70's, and was blown away by the beauty and versatility of Valerie's voice, against a backdrop of incredible musicianship. And now, almost 30 years later, the album is just as powerful an experience to listen to as it was way back when. In particular my favourite tracks are Ooh Child, Heartache, Face of Appalachia, and Cowboy Angel. I was thrilled to hear her at a James Taylor concert in Vancouver a few years back, and I'm thankful that this album made it to CD. I'd love to hear more from her!
