This is not an ordinary review.I just wanted to tell you the story what happened at the Blue Moon Bar in Stockholm, april 14 when Peter Friestedt had an release concert for the L.A.Project II It was an enchanted evening and here´s what happened: _______________________________________________ On Monday, april 14, Peter Friestedt held an release concert for his L.A.Project II album at the Blue Moon Bar in Stockholm..And what an evening it was !It was like a dream for all lovers of Westcoast music.I wish that you all could have attended this great concert. Peter was in the driving seat, leading the band that consisted of Stefan Gunnarsson keys and vocals.Jimmy Kjellqvist on bass ,Johan Franzon on drums and Wojtek Goral on sax. Peter delivered songs both from the new album aswell as from the L.A.Project I. Peter played tasty guitars mixed with "smookin" solos and as always with a big smile on his face. He´s a very talented musician and has done a great job getting all these westcoast ”legends” togrther in making these two albums. On a couple of songs Peter was backed by Tommy Denander ,and they together played some solo on some of the songs. Great playing guys! A release concert always contains some surprises and all of us attending were not to be dissapointed. All of a sudden Tommy Funderburk appears on stage doing "After The Love Is Gone" and "Nothin´ You Can Do About It" Perhaps someone can fill in the blanks for the other songs he did.I forgot about them ´cause I was in 7th heaven and had to pinch my arm.On top of this, we later on had Lou Pardini singin´the roof off. What a voice ! Finally we had a special appearence by drummer fame Bill Maxwell and the great John Péna on bass. This was an ordinary monday night (NOT!) at the Blue Moon Bar in Stockholm. Peter, thanks for a great record and a fantastic concert, keep doing what You´re doing ´cause You´re needed out there !
Peter Friestedt's awaited 2nd leading album "The L.A. Project 2" is now on sale. Peter mainly recorded this album at Entourage Studios in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. Featuring Abraham Laboriel and John "J.R" Robinson this time! The new record also features Bill Champlin, Joseph Williams, Lou Pardini, Randy Goodrum and many more. Once you start listening to this album, you must be knocked out by the opening track "Where To Touch You" featuring Joseph Williams, which will remind you of TOTO definitely. Peter went to LA in february 2005 to do recording sessions. When Michael Ruff came to Sweden in December 2005, he added his genius to the music! In June 2006, Peter visited L.A to work with Lou Pardini and Bill Cantos on some final overdubs for the new CD! Listen to Lou Pardini for the first time performing his US hit song "Love Is Gonna Getcha" originally sung by Patty Austin. My favorite one is "There Ain't Nothin' (Wings Of Joyful Thinkin')" with Bill Cantos, which is truly magnificent cross-over pop song. And in July 2007, "One More Night" written by Peter with Brian Hobbs and Tommy Denander, the last tune for this album featuring Joseph Williams was completed. After several months, the album has finally found the home. The CD is made available here in Japan on March 26th, 2008 by Vivid Sound, as one of the Light Mellow's Choice series. In Europe, the album is released on the 12th of March by ZINK Music, Sweden! "The L.A. Project 2" will be one of the must-have CD to you all. This album is almost perfect one and very close to 5 stars out of 5. However, I dare to give 4 and half stars to this because I believe that Peter never satisfy with the present and he will polish his talent for the future, thus I look forward to having much greater the next "The LA Project 3" !
As you probably guessed this is the follow up to the 2004 release called “LA Project” and I’m sure that a lot of fans have been waiting for this one for long time (or so it seems when you wait for something good). Now the wait is over and it was worth it BIG time. What an album! A collection of high quality tunes, performed with excellence and featuring an impressive guest list of westcoast all stars. The opening track “Where To Touch You” contains one of the best vocal performances ever from Joseph Williams (Toto, Vertigo) as well as a vocal break from Bill Champlin (Chicago, Sons Of Champlin) that just blows me away. I can assure you that the album is as impressive as the list of musicians. Sweden really shows the world how to make top class westcoast music. Get the album and you’re in HEAVEN.
What would we do without our friends from Sweden?Pete's done it again! And he's done it even better than before. It was a good decision to take some time to finish the songs. This is a delicious mix of jazz, blues and Jo Williams ;-)... Personally I prefer the soul of Bill Champlin's "Cheyenne" and especially Michael Ruff's jazzy "Powerful thing", what a sound!!! Try this with your car's surround sound and it'll knock you off your feet, promise! Not to forget "Love Is Gonna Getcha" with a brilliant vocal performance by Lou Pardini. And you'll get a wonderful track sung by Randy Goodrum. This is definitely what the doctor ordered and besides Robbie Dupree's new extravaganza the definite release of the year!
