The awesome swedish songwriter Ted Gärdestad went to Los Angeles to record "Blue Virgin Isles". This album is featuring many great west coast studio musicians and is a fantastic album to have in your collection. Unfornunally it hasn´t been reissued on CD yet.
Ted Gärdestad is probably the best swedish songwriter ever.All his songs were crafted with finesse and impeccable style.He made his break through as a teenager creating a hysteria among all the girls among the fans.He was also a very gifted tennis player and had some battles with Bjorn Borg in the early teens.On this album Ted went to L.A to record.Together with his brother Kenneth who wrote all the lyrics as he did on every album.It´s a shame that this haven´t been release by the swedish record company.Actually it´s nothing but a scandal.From his debut Ted made 7 studio albums .After the Blue Virgin Isles he made another album in 1981 called "Stormvarning".After that he took a break until 1994 when he made an comeback effort.During the period off from music Ted had some difficult years not feeling that well.But he made his comeback with another album called"Äntligen på väg" ,in english "Finally on my way" As always,beautiful songs crafted by Ted with great lyrics by brother Kenneth that always stood by his side.Sadly and very tragical Ted passed away in 1997.I cried that day and I can still do when I listed to particular songs from the different albums.There will never be another one like Ted with this unique sense of building a melody .Peace Ted ,Your music is your legacy and the songs will remain and through them your memory
