Why not me? This song tells the story of every guy who loved a girl, who didn't love him back, and who went to her wedding anyway... and asked himself that question.

I am trying to find where to purchase the fred knoblock album "why not me". I can't find it anywhere. Please advise. Thanks

I havent heard that song in 25 years. Never forgot and want to hear it, how?

I was in the Army in 1981 stationed in Alaska and a guy in the barracks had "Why Not Me" on a pop-song collection. It also had "Change Your Heart" by the Korgis.

i am trying to locate a recording of memphis by fred knobloch. thanks, phil

For any country album ever made, try Earnest Tubb's Record shop. When they run out, they'll call Fred to see if he knows where anymore are. :)

Some Informations for you: Fred Knoblock had several turns in front of the microphone during his career in music, with the most successful occurring in the field of country music during the early '80s when Scotti Brothers Records signed him to a recording deal. He took "Why Not Me" into the Top 20 in 1980. Knobloch followed up with "Killin' Time," a collaboration with Susan Anton that scored in country's Top Ten later that year and crossed over to pop, where it peaked at number 26. "Memphis," which was originally recorded by Chuck Berry, again brought Knobloch into the Top Ten in 1981. A year later, "I Had It All" landed him on country charts for the last time. Before going country, Knobloch belonged to Let's Eat, a rock outfit that tried to make a go of it during the '70s. In 1986, he joined forces with Paul Overstreet and Thom Schuyler Jr. to form Schuyler, Knobloch Overstreet, whose sound mixed elements of pop, folk, and country. When Overstreet dropped out in 1987, Craig Bickhardt joined and the group became known as Schuyler, Knobloch Bickhardt. The band later folded. No longer in front of the microphone, Knobloch carried on as a songwriter. He also collaborated with Jelly Roll Johnson on the album Live at the Bluebird Café, which was released in 2000.

I once had this song on a .mp3 but I erased it by mistake. And now I cannot find this song anywhere. It's like it fell off of the earth. Anyone know where I can purchase mp3. Question? Is his name J. Fred Knobloch or Fred Knoblock?

Love this song! Can't believe that it's almost 30 years old. Lived the lyrics too, at one point.

I have Fred Knoblock on 45 rpm and MP3(!) I can send the MP3 to you for the asking ;-)

First, big big thanks to this website wich had me discovering this wonderfull album. But, I would not focus on the title song since this album is indeed huge. I would say that it's as good as "blame it on the night", by Robert Byrne of course. Just a collection of fabulous songs, timeless and very well produced by a drummer, kind of original isn'it (?), James Stroud. Highly recommanded if I may say so, I don't see how you would regret this purchase...

First heard Fred do this song on the Mike Douglas Show. I ran out and grabbed that day, played it for years, I always thought it had some of the best lyrics story telling could offer.Howvever, I lost it in a flood at a basment apartment and never found it again. Mn do I miss that song.

I bought the 45 back when it came out originally. The 45 is long gone but the song still pops in my head from time to time. I would love to find it and download to my IPOD. Any suggestions on where to fing it?

I found this song at Sensationalseventies.com after looking for it for years. I rememberred a few of the lyrics, but not the song. I downloaded Limewire, did a search, downloaded it and now I am playing this song regularly on my laptop because I couldnt find it anywhere else. Its not pirating in my opinion if its the only place to find it.
