No comments for this record until now?! This is definitely one of the greatest records ever. Just listen to "Endless Summer Nights", "Hold On To The Nights" and my all time high "Heaven Only Knows". If you donīt get it - stay out....
I just bought this cd because I heard the song "Endless Summer Nights" in a movie and remembered what a great song it was and how much I LOVED this cd (Which of course I had on cassette). Also I thought that these facts were interesting: - Over 30 million records sold - Writer of Eleven #1 songs - Nineteen Top 20 Singles as an Artist, including SEVEN #1 HITS - 2004 Grammy Song of the Year Winner, with Luther Vandross, for "Dance With My Father"
An impressive debut. At the time of writing, there are two other reviews printed here and both ring true to me. "Endless Summer Nights" is a brilliant track that you like as soon as you hear it and want to hear again. You rarely get such emotionally powerful mainstream singles thesedays. Also, "Hold Onto The Nights" is a nice song. I wish that I could give you more. Any person who wants to help other people relates to this song. Also it's a great sound. It's needles to say marx was very talented even at this early age. Also the album has engineering by Humberto Gatica who regulary worked with David foster so you get a great sound, that reminds you of other albums Humberto Gattica was on in the 80's. Still, I hope they re-issue this soon on cd as it's out of print and I hope it gets remastered well too. I have an original vinyl of this tape recording which i got new a few years ago and it sounds far better than the cd although that's probably somewhat to do with my cd player not being that high quality. Still, I'm sure it could be mastered better. Standout tracks for me are The two mentioned plus "Should've known better", "Lonely Hearts", "Remember Manhattan", "Have Mercy" and "Heaven only Knows" is a pretty great one like Gerrard says (even if the line that pops up 'I wanna die in the arms of the one I love' , while being nice ok, is unfortunately the most over-used line by today and in what are usually pukey low quality chart singles. Many a parasite has sung this line
