Your comments about this record:

If you like WC/AOR you’re certainly familiar with Boz Scaggs’ wonderful music. “Middle Man” stands out as one of his best efforts. Scaggs’ unique voice and great musicianship culminate in fantastic songs like “Jojo”, “Breakdown Dead Ahead” and the title track to only name a few. Worth a mention is (as always) Steve Lukather’s outstanding guitar work with memorable solos. There is a certain “coolness” that surrounds Boz Scaggs’ songs that is hard to describe. By the way, the recent 2004 Japanese CD re-release offers superb sound quality.

This no doubt the best Boz Scaggs album so far! It features both that slick New York disco grooves á la 80's like in "Jojo" and "Simone" with that tight arrangements strings and horns and great piano/keyboards by David Foster & David Paich, or in the rockers "Breakdown Dead Ahead" and "You Got Some Imagination" with that guitar inputs by Lukather that nearly explodes like on those Tubes records from the 80's! And listen to that great drum fills on all of the tracks by Mr Jeff Porcaro! And when Mr Carlos Santana makes that smooth guitar solo in the ballad "You Can Have Me Anytime"! When one Swedish journalist named Olle Berggren made an interview with the Toto in the 80's he said to them: "I Like You best when You're Playing With Boz Scaggs!" Then Toto answered: "It Is WE Who Are Boz Scaggs!" Boz Scaggs got to excuse me, but I agree with that statement, even if I'm a great, great fan of Boz Scaggs! Of course He's great EVEN WITHOUT Toto! But this one is truly a master piece!

Boz Scaggs has made an excellent CD with "Middle Man". It rocks, it is soulful and has alot of energy. This is a great CD - great production, songs, background singing, and his voice sounds excellent. Very cool!

Boz Scaggs has a very disctinitive voice. He is good at delivering ballads like "Look What You've Done to Me" the theme from Urban Cowboy. "Isn't It Time" sounds like "We're All Alone" his earlier ballad written for Rita Coolidge (originally on the 1976 album Silk Degrees)

With “Middle Man”, producer Bill Schnee and arranger/keyboardist David Foster brought the absolute best out of erstwhile bluesman Boz Scaggs and created one of the coolest albums in LA history. Everything from the effortless, playful swing of the drum tracks to Scaggs’ trademark detached yet soulful delivery is almost uncannily impeccable. Gone is the grittiness of the artist’s previous offerings, in favor of Schnee’s sparkling hi-fi approach. The songwriting is outstanding, treading a fine line between dance numbers and controlled yet energetic rockers. If Christopher Cross is the sound of a long, sunny day out in the yacht, Scaggs takes us to his penthouse pad for the afterparty. Standout tracks: Jojo, You Got Some Imagination
