Unfortunately, this was Alfies last truly great CD. The first six tracks being some of the best tunes he has recorded. Some great chord arrangements especially on Nothing to do with Love, which benefits from the female backing vocals. Alfie started to drift away from the soulful/rock material of previous cds to a more laid back acoustic ballad jazz-approach, which never seemed to work as well. Still a great talent and lets hope he returns to his previous sound with some new material?
Alfie Zappacosta is one of my favourite artists. He's more of a composer than a vocalist, because he ain't got that 100% good voice, but who cares as long as the artist is great in the writing of songs?! Alfie Zappacosta comes from Canada, was in a group called Surrender, but he's quite unknown "in the wide world", except that 3-4 minutes of fame that he got when he got that song titled "overload" at that "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack! (What a boring rip of to the Peter Gabriel-song "Sledgehammer" by the way!) This CD "Quick - Don't Ask Any Questions" is his 3rd solo album (if You don't count his compilation-CD). The first track on the CD titled "Letter Back" is one of my favourites. It got brilliant lyrics about a letter that he wrote to a girl and he mailed it in the mail box and regret that he mailed it. The melodies are great and got great hooks. A dozen of songs that I never got tired of!
